The chef and owners truly outdid themselves with a phenomenal menu! We had the chance to try several appetizers, two of the main courses, and a few of their desserts and everything was absolutely delicious. The cherry crisp was easily my favorite dessert of the night. 🍒 It was so good that I completely forgot to take a picture before it disappeared! Such a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. You can truly tell how much thought and care goes into every dish.

WOW. Just WOW. Poppycocks absolutely blew us away! From the first bite to the last sip, this was one of those meals where we kept looking at each other saying, “How is this THAT good?!” We started with our first round of drinks, and they were absolutely amazing. We chose the Brussels sprouts for an appetizer, and I’m not exaggerating when I say they may be the BEST Brussels sprouts we’ve ever had. Absolutely incredible. At this point, we knew we were in for a special meal. For our entrées, we ordered the pork ribeye and the shrimp & grits, and HOLY COW. Both were phenomenal. The flavors, the preparation, the presentation…everything was on point. We’ve eaten at a lot of great restaurants, including a few Michelin restaurants, and these dishes could legitimately give some of them a run for their money. Then we did something we almost NEVER do: we ordered dessert. They too were unbelievable, and paired with another round of fantastic drinks, it was the perfect ending to an already incredible meal. Poppycocks is such a cute spot in downtown Traverse City! It strikes the perfect balance between upscale and casual, making it a great spot for any occasion. Every dish we tried was delicious, but the standouts were the whitefish cakes, the braised short ribs, and the grilled salmon. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive, which made the experience even better. If you're looking for a memorable meal in Traverse City, Poppycocks is definitely worth a visit!

The restaurant is clean and cute, however the food was underwhelming. The burger is overpriced, and honestly felt and tastes like a water burger. It wasn’t cooked to the right temp and comes with virtually nothing on it. For $20 I expect cheese and some sort of sauce or SOMETHING aside from a bland patty and tomatoes and lettuce. You have to pay $2 for cheese and they bring to ketchup and mayo that’s just been sitting behind the counter. The mayo was EXPIRED by FOUR months, and my husband who ate it and ended up not feeling the greatest, barely got an apology. It was pretty upsetting to say the least as we were several hours away from home and had to make several stops to get home. The grease they fry stuff in seems to be dirty as my husband’s fries came with bits of burnt brussel sprout leaves in them. As for my food, it was good, but everything was a different temp. The carrot purée was cold, the mash was lukewarm, and the only hot things were the brussel sprouts and the short ribs, which was fine. I don’t know. Overall it was very disappointing for the price point. It was edible, but not great.

This place is excellent. We came on a recommendation from a local restaurant worker while in vacation in TC. The best food we had on the trip, no question. They have rotating soups and we tried the Tomato as well as a red lentil soup. Also would definitely recommend the Brussels with a sweet heat Asian inspired flavor. I cleaned the plate completely!
